Working FAQs

How collaborative is working at DCP?

Working at DCP is highly collaborative.

  • Teachers collaborate with departments, grade level, and advisory teams.
  • Teachers collaborate on curriculum design.
  • Data talks are part of the weekly meeting schedule.
  • Staff collaborate as teams (e.g. college guidance, operations).
  • As an organization, we strive to create a collaborative culture where we give each other support and feedback.

What kind of professional development will I receive?

  • As an organization, we commit to focused and continuous professional growth and recognize that this helps us attract and retain quality talent.
  • Primarily, we believe that regular, relevant professional development is the key to helping staff develop. For that reason, most PD is done on site on a weekly basis throughout the year. This may take the form of new teacher Induction, data talks, and teacher workshops. We also believe that at times staff benefit from outside expertise, and strive to support staff in external professional development that contributes to their growth in their position.

Can I come visit before I decide to apply? Does this take the place of the preliminary interview?

Absolutely! We invite you to visit either campus, observe classes, and talk to students and staff to learn more about our work and our culture. This visit does not take the place of a preliminary interview. In the preliminary interview, we will be asking you specific questions and looking for certain skills. It is more formal, structured, and time-consuming than the site visit.

What other skills should I possess?

  • Teachers must possess one of the following:
    • Appropriate California credential,
    • Proof of application for California credential, or
    • Enrollment in university-approved intern program
  • Spanish-language speaking and writing skills distinguish all candidates
  • Successful work experience with the DCP target student distinguishes all candidates
