Interview Process

DCP teachers embrace the notion that their role extends beyond the walls of the classroom. Our teachers are instructors, community builders, researchers, and defenders of the mission. Our interview process seeks to find teachers who will thrive in our unique environment. The teacher interview process is a multi-step progression that seeks to find teachers who:

  • Demonstrate command of a variety of instructional techniques that engage students and scaffold complicated ideas and concepts without compromising academic rigor
  • Skillfully and regularly use data to drive curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Are energized by regular collaboration with other teachers within their department and across grade levels
  • Embrace the notion of continuous professional growth, and participate actively in professional development within and outside of the organization
  • Can work successfully with our target student
  • Display an unwavering commitment to the mission
  • Build community within the school, with families, and with our external partners.

We are looking for teachers who fit with and contribute to the growth of our school culture. Consequently, our interview process is a multi-step process that includes:

  • Completion of an online application
  • An offer for a site visit may then be offered if you meet our basic qualifications. This is an opportunity for you to discover if DCP is the right fit for you, and for us to see if you possess the qualities we ask of our staff.
  • Following the site visit, candidates who demonstrate they possess the skills and attributes of a DCP teacher may be invited for a preliminary interview.
  • A secondary interview invitation may then be offered. This involves a formal demonstration lesson in front of a panel of staff, students, and families.
