What makes DCP different from other high schools?

DCP's college enrollment and success far exceeds traditional public high schools.

Is DCP a public school? Does it cost money to attend?

DCP is a public charter school, in the San Jose Unified School District, and does not charge tuition.

What kind of student is DCP looking for?

DCP is looking for students who are committed to living up to their full potential and who will be the first in their family to graduate from college.

What advantages does a DCP student have?

The main advantage a DCP student has is the culture of academic achievement and college readiness. The school culture, program, and learning environment are designed to help students do well academically and embrace a vision of college success. Students are well known, and get the individualized help they need.

Does DCP have a sports program? Extracurricular activities?

DCP offers:

  • Boys/girls soccer
  • Boys/girls basketball
  • Girls volleyball
  • Ultimate Frisbee

DCP has a wealth of extracurricular activities including:

  • Leadership Class
  • Yearbook
  • Engineering Club

From talent shows, to art exhibitions, to school dances and visits to college campuses, DCP keeps students engaged and learning.

What is DCP's history? How many students attend?

DCP opened in Fall 2000 with 100 9th grade students and currently serves 400 students in grades 9-12. DCP has graduated nearly 500 alumni since 2004.

What kinds of programs does DCP have to support my child?

DCP supports students in a variety of ways, including:

  • Timely communication with families if a student’s academic progress or behavior is not up to DCP standards.
  • Teachers and administrators encourage and welcome parent conferences.
  • DCP offers Math and Literacy remediation classes.
  • Students can receive individualized help in study hall and homework center.

Although DCP supports and encourages all of our students, we understand that DCP is not for every student. Students may return to another public schools if they are not able to meet DCP's academic or behavior standards.

Can I enroll my child at any time?

We encourage you to submit an application at any time, and we do call families from the wait list throughout the year if students leave DCP. Because we value the relationships we have developed with current families, sibling applicants receive special consideration.

DCP Alum Rock is an opportunity for students and families to have access to a rigorous college prep education that supports students and families through the college experience. DCP Alum Rock will grow to serve students in grades 6-12.

DCP offers electives during the school day. Because we want our students to have a wide array of experiences, we change our electives regularly. Examples include

What is DCP Alum Rock's history? How many students attend?

DCP Alum Rock opened in Fall 2011 with 180 6th and 7th grade students. DCP Alum Rock will grow to a 6-12 with 600 students. DCP Alum Rock will be the cornerstone of a community where college graduation is the norm for all students.

What kinds of programs does DCP Alum Rock have to support my child?

DCP Alum Rock supports students in a variety of ways:

  • Timely communication with families if a student’s academic progress or behavior is not up to DCP standards.
  • Personalized environment where all teachers know all students
  • College Readiness classes
  • After school intervention
