Downtown College Prep is a 501 (c)(3) not-for profit organization. DCP relies upon the generosity of individuals, companies, and foundations to provide the funds and equipment needed to build and supply the school, as well as to cover management and program enhancement costs. All contributions are fully tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. You can make a difference in the lives of the hundreds of downtown San Jose school children by making a donation of cash, stock, property, goods or services.

1.  Does DCP charge tuition?
No.  As a public school, DCP does not charge tuition. 

2.  How much money does DCP need to privately fundraise annually to support its operations?
DCP must privately fundraise $1,300,000 annually to support its operations.

3.  How much does DCP spend per student/year?
DCP spends $10,255/student/year.

4.  How much money does DCP receive from the state per student/year?
DCP receives $6,694/student/year.

5.  Does DCP receive state funding for facilities costs?
To-date, DCP has not received any state funding for facilities.  However, $4.7 million in school bond monies have been allocated to DCP in Measure F and will be applied to its permanent site in 2005.

The voluntary efforts of many people have greatly contributed to the success of DCP thus far. If you or your business is interested in contributing your time, skill, and/or experience to help give the students of San Jose an education which will prepare them for college, then please contact DCP through any of the methods below.  We especially would like to invite college students and community members interested in providing one-on-one tutoring and mentoring.
